Be a successful online learner and/or homeschooled high school student

I have researched and Googled for tips on how to be a good homeschooled student, but a lot of the links I found were basically geared for parents on how to homeschool your children successfully. I think that for parents, it is hard enough to get you guys in a routine at home to do school work, so some of you might want to take this opportunity to help yourself in becoming a great homeschooler!!

My boys have done online learning for the past 4 years. At first it was very hard to get them into a routine and be diligent about sticking to their schedule, but eventually it just clicked. I had made them an agenda, got them into a routine, and they finally were able to get themselves on track.

It’s not easy and it takes a lot of hard work but after you get into your own routine you will feel different. How you ask? You will feel more independent, self-confident, and overall it will be rewarding. You have the power to help educate yourself and take control of your life.

In the long run you will see so many benefits to doing the work on your own and using your online teachers to guide you. Just think of this as a step in preparing you for college or online distance learning with whatever route you choose to go on.

You can do this! I am here to help you if you have any questions or concerns! I have faith in you all!

Here are some tips that can help you through:

  1. Set your alarm clock. Not too early though! Get your sleep in and remember, you can make your own schedule as long as you make one!
  2. Keep a routine. Get yourself going the same way everyday. Set your alarm, make your bed, brush your teeth, get dressed, and be positive. Everyday is a new day for you to be successful at everything!
  3. Write down a schedule for yourself. If you don’t know where to start, I can help you. I will be following up on how to get organized with your academic schedule.
  4. Pace yourself. You are not in a rush but you need to keep going on a steady pace.
  5. Set your hours. How many assignments and subjects do you have? Ask your teacher for a pacing guide. This will help you determine how much time you have to get an assignment done.
  6. Don’t get overwhelmed. Take a deep breath. Don’t panic. You are not alone and you can definitely do this.
  7. Lastly, use the internet to help you! You have the world at your fingertips! Everything you need to know is right there in front of you! Take advantage of every resource that is provided to you.

I am here if you need help.  Post comments on here and I will check back daily.

There’s No Reason to Be Alone ♥️🐶🐱♥️

I heard today, and this is just a thought I’m putting out there, that animal shelters are letting you foster dogs and cats. Since many people are laid off from work this would be ideal for their situation, especially if they live alone. I am not sure which shelters are offering this. The issue the shelters are having is that they are cutting down on employees which means the dogs and cats will be getting less interaction. ♥️🐶🐱🐶🐱♥️ #fosterapooch

The pup shown below is my boy ♥️ He isn’t up for fosterbf or adoption. Sorry!!

Take Advantage of TIME. Welcome 2020

It’s Time to Take Advantage of TIME

If there is one thing, I could brainwash everyone to do, it would be to take advantage of time. Use it wisely, cherish every single second. People just read the words but don’t really listen. I know this because there are so many instances, events, people, that I wish I would have cherished more.

Not just the good times but the bad as well. I wish I could have cherished the bad and learned from my mistakes. Eventually I did but it took a few trial runs. Another way I wish I could have taken advantage of time would have been to do the things that I really wanted to do and not have just gone with the flow in fear that I would have upset someone if I didn’t.

There are too many (I’s) in there so I’m going to transition to you….lol  Anything that might remotely represent narcissism I have to switch gears. One of my pet peeves lol.

Another way to take advantage of time is to tell someone how you really feel. You love them, tell them. Who cares what the outcome is, the point of it is that you told them your true feelings. On the flipside, also be honest. Brutally, painstakingly, honest. No holding back. No suffering on the inside because you are afraid to hurt their feelings. It will be worse in the long run. Who knows, that person might not like you either and is going through the same emotions and thoughts you are as well. So, look at it this way, you are doing not only yourself a favor but them also. Sticking it out because you think that time after time things will change, nah it usually doesn’t. Why? Because in your gut you know it won’t and history always repeats itself. When all contemplation fails, listen to your gut!!! I have wasted literally years of my life weighing the pros and cons, be resilient in my fight for true love but when it’s not there, it’s not there. I will leave that for another post lol.

Take advantage of time by not procrastinating. If there is a thought in your mind about doing something, bettering yourself, finishing school, do it. You can’t rewind time and your age. As you get older things can sometimes get harder. Not all the time, just sometimes.

Lastly, but not really because I have a ton more to say but I’m running out of time, is take care of you. Seriously, I underestimated that saying. Totally. Self-care sounds so corny to some, but there is so much truth to it I can’t even begin to tell you. Indulge in the good stuff. Water. Yes water. When I am down and out, I drink water. Drink it. Try it for a day or two and see how your mind clears up and your heart doesn’t ache. Yes, I know it sounds crazy but it worked for me. Either that or I have lost my mind. Okay enough of the water lol. What you do to your body will have an everlasting affect for the rest of your life, so take care of it. Your body, mind, and soul. Take the time to treat yourself right because no one else will do it for you.

On that note I have to hightail it out of here. Happy New Year and I wish you all a million times of happiness, health, and prosperity. Welcome 2020!!

Who’s In??

I don’t know but over the past 2 years I am indulging in doing the things I’ve always wanted to do but had obstacles stopping me for whatever reasons. Too many to list and not enough time to talk about it. Plus nothing is worth mentioning anyway. Life is short. Let bygones be bygones. Live for the moment. Do what you want and need to do now because sometimes those opportunities could vanish just like that.

Lately I have been and you should try it also…..

Take chances, expressing how you really feel, refuse to let people to use you and treat you like shit, actually like/loving yourself for a change, enjoying the moment even when those moments are far and few in between. Lay around and do absolutely nothing, go with your gut instinct, take care of you, mentally, physically, and financially. Have patience, don’t rush life, listen and I mean really listen when people are talking to you. Don’t take yourself or others for granted. Put the phone down, drink water and lots of it, be strong, be positive, and most of all have the gumption and perseverance to whatever it is you want to do in life and NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

My little home office is getting there and I am totally in love with this space. Hey I just added another pic. I got a lamp tonight for my desk. OMG love it. It has a charging port built right in it for my phone. mo5
